Sadler’s Wells, New Adventures and Norwich Theatre Royal have been collaborating on the creation of a new model for environmentally sustainable touring by exploring joint green initiatives between visiting companies and presenting theatres.
This work is supported by the Accelerator Programme, run by environmental charity Julie’s Bicycle in partnership with Arts Council England to advance sustainable practice among arts organisations. The two year programme will finish in March, when the insights and findings will be published for the wider industry.
Sadler’s Wells have also been making strides in reducing single use plastic, most recently with the introduction of reusable plastic cups. Glass is not permitted in their auditorium, so this has prevented approximately 4,500 disposable cups from being thrown away each week.
