Thanks to Cory Riverside Energy for recently hosting ISEP on a fantastic tour of their Energy-from-Waste facility.

Cory operate the largest Energy-from-Waste facility in the UK, located on the banks of the River Thames. The site at Belvedere uses waste that would otherwise have gone to landfill as feedstock to generate electricity. It generates c.525,000 MWh of electricity each year from processing c.750,000 tonnes of waste. What’s more, they use the River Thames as a green highway to move the waste from the city to the facility on a fleet of tugs and barges, removing around 100,000 truck movements a year off our capital’s congested roads.

A special thanks to Chris Jones, Director of Risk Management & Compliance, for being a great tour guide.
